Starting off a New Year with a hangover is no fun at all. Starting it with a costume parade and a dance party, fireworks, and a run in Central Park? You'll wake up the next morning a full 4 miles ahead on your New Year's resolutions.
DJ Music and Dancing • 10:00 p.m. Costume Parade and Contest • 11:00 p.m. Fireworks and 4M Race • Midnight
The dancing and the costume parade and contest are at the Central Park Bandshell, just south of the 72nd Street Transverse in Central Park. The race starts and finishes on the adjacent park roadway.
Don a costume and join the parade! Line up in front of the Central Park Bandshell, just south of the 72nd Street Transverse, at 10:45 to begin parading at 11:00 p.m. Awards will be given to the top three creative designs (individual and group costumes welcome). The contest is open to race entrants only.
Start on Central Park's 72nd Street Transverse at Bethesda Terrace and head east to East Drive. Turn left/north and continue to the 102nd Street Transverse. Turn left/west across the transverse and then left/south on West Drive. Continue to the 72nd Street Transverse, turning left/east to the finish line.
All participants will receive a long-sleeve shirt plus a fleece hat. Size satisfaction is subject to availability.
